I have a 6 1/2 in res and just got a quarter sized baby myself and stumbled on your post looking for how long to keep a new turtle separate. I know to keep a new one separate for a certain amount of time to make sure it is healthy but what does size matter? I understand my big guy might try to eat the little thing but if he doesn't what other reason is for the separation?

Well it's gonna take a long long time for my baby to get anywhere near the size of my other turtle so i just got the baby her own set up and its not really a concern anymore. Thats a really good pic!! They are so cute and both are posing for the camera!

not a good idea to put a baby with a turtle 3 times its size.
