I did have the following turtles but they went to a new home
2 Red Ear Sliders, 1 Eastern Box Turtle, 1 Russian Tortoise, 1 Yellow Belly Slider, and a Midland Paint.

I currently keep 2 Yearling Eastern Box Turtles.

I had this happen with two of my turtles, the vet said that sometimes the eyes will swell if they have an ear infection too. Best thing to do is to put the eye drops in, (which can be hard because when you get anything near a turtles head, the head disappears, and to get the drops in an open eye, well, that can be near impossible.) I put drops on the turtles eyes even when they were shut because a lot of times some would seep into the eye and it all helps.  Another thing you can do is put them in a tote with water and about 1 tsp of non iodized sea salt for about 2 hours per day. make sure it dissolves well.

Sometimes it may take as much as ten days of treatment to get rid of it. From the pictures you had in the bucket it doesn't look too serious yet but you will want to treat that and then watch them for a while too. One of mine made a beautiful recovery and was looking great and growing but I think it had an ear infection instead. It jumped into the water, got turned up side down and couldn't right himself and drawn during the night. That's why it isso  Shocked important to keep an eye on them even after the infection looks like it has cleared up.  Good luck!

looks to me like a infection... I would suggest taking your little guy to a vet. I would hate for him to die or something... What a cutie!
