Hey guys and gals I have a RES and I need a new setup, so I was hoping you guys and gals could help.  The current tank is 55 gallon, one of the square glass ones.  I will  consider buying new setup if need be, but first let me tell you some of the problems.  First of all I need a new lighting system because there is piece of glass in between light and tank and this will be taking away alot of Sun for turtle.  Its got a little plastic piece down middle and two different lighting setups on each side.  What can I do for light or get one that isnt blocking the heat going to turtle and tank?  Also I feed him in tank because  I have since he was baby I tried taking them out and feeding them as babies in different container but they were to scared so I stuck to feeding them in tank.  Being he is fed in tank he leaves a mess of crumbs and or turtle poop on bottom so of course I have to change tank alot.  How would a Model Hagen Fluval 305 or type similar work in the condions that he is feed in tank and stuff.  Like I said if a new setup is best I can see buying a new tank or container.  Let me know what your guys and gals thoughts are please, thanks. Is there anyway you can smash out the glass on the lid or at least thats what im thinking you have. It the common aquarium lid right? I just smashed mine out. If it isnt that can you post a link to what this looks like?

I would say jump up to the Fluval 405 and that tank will be crystal clear for months without having to clean the filter or water. You dont need to buy a whole new tank.

Also look inot the turtle topper it will solve your lighing problem and you can raise the water level all the way on the tank.

Yea Im looking into getting one of those turtle toppers.  Ive never used one of the Fluval 405 system of any kind before and have a couple questions about them.  Since my RES is probably over 2 years old and is grown in a 55 gallon tank and is feed in the tank is it ok that the fluval system will be pumping out the crumbs and stuff he doesnt eat?  Also is it ok if it pumps out his poop in it too?  I just want to be sure before I buy one since there so expensive.
